If you take a look at our Marketplace, you will see cryptic design names wherever your eyes wander. Here for a few examples (guess what design those names could refer to):
NON_001.svg – would you have guessed that this design deals with the passing of a new law?
SO02_70.svg – and, what do you reckon? … of course: it’s about ‘swag’!
Club tie cravate Krawatte corbata cravatta gravata – admittedly, that was easy. But: which car dealer would advertise his deals in 4-5 languages? And what impression does this leave on a customer?
Not only do these names appear in the Spreadshirt Marketplace, but also in your shop, on invoices and delivery notes for customers. And a cryptic name does not fly at all if a product has made it to feature on Amazon. The design name that you give a design is important, because Amazon lists your product name in second position of the product description:

Why are good names for designs and products important?
First of all, Google and other search engines welcome good product names as they help them show better search results.
Cryptic product names put customers off. Names that sound intelligible, logical and sound have a positive impact on buying decisions. Vendors can provoke positive buying decisions by being sympathetic – and a good product name is much more sympathetic than a cryptic one. Everyone – so also your customers – find it hard to associate cryptic names (aka your product names) with a certain design. This means that people will not remember a product name in case they want to order it again or recommend to someone else.
What makes a good name?
1. Use one language only. Avoid translations of main keywords.
2. Do not use file endings such as .svg or .xyz.
3. Avoid stringing together keywords that are connected with underscores.
4. Do not use numbers (unless they are part of the design).
5. Do not use URLs.
It is worth checking the products in your shop to see whether they are in line with these 5 tips. You help customers find what they are looking for, and it will affect your sales positively. With only a few mouse clicks you can improve your sales channels on the Spreadshirt T-Shirt Shop, Amazon or your own shop.
